The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) covers certain pre-departure medical services for refugees coming to Canada for resettlement. The IFHP provides limited, temporary coverage of health-care benefits to people in the following groups who aren’t eligible for provincial or territorial (PT) health insurance. If you currently have IFHP support, services such as therapy sessions with registered psychotherapists and counselling therapists are covered. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.

An immigration assessment is a mental health evaluation that can be used to support your legal or immigration case. The assessment is intended to help the Immigration Officer better understand your mental health and the potential mental health impact of being denied residency in Canada.
What’s to expect during an Immigration Assessment?

The immigration assessment process involves a two hour session, which can be completed virtually or in person. During this session one of our Registered Psychotherapists will ask you a series of questions about your emotional health. This is to get a comprehensive understanding of your overall situation and mental state.

Please note that our Registered Psychotherapist won’t be able to provide any formal diagnosis. However, they will provide insights into the symptoms you may be experiencing, which can be helpful for your immigration case.

After the assessment, you’ll receive a detailed report within two weeks.

Couples counseling is a form of therapy where guidance and advice is focused on problematic issues within the relationships rather than the individual partner themselves. Couples counseling is short-term problem-oriented therapy which may include a variety of approaches to confront the areas of concern. Couples counseling is emotionally focused on improving relationship satisfaction and conflict resolution in a couple.

The goal of couples counseling is to gain insight into the relational dynamics creating the problem. Understand the roles of each partner in the dysfunctional interactions, and help change the way they perceive the relationship and each other. Effective communication skills and problem-solving techniques are provided to both partners.

Unfortunately, not all relationships can be saved and couples therapy is necessary at times to help part ways amicably. Sometimes a significant amount of damage has occurred in the relationship where restorative treatment is no longer viable. When maladaptive relational patterns have already become embedded, the emotional bond of the couple is severely broken due to resentment from past conflict. Couples therapy can be useful in helping to settle these wounds and learning how to move on without each other.

Addictions Counseling

Addiction counselling helps clients who have various addiction disorders. Through individual, family and couples counselling, intervention strategies and treatment approaches are used to help counsel clients through all stages of recovery. While getting help from an addiction is not easy, however counselling is the first step in recognizing the problem and work towards a solution.

First Responders, Military & Veteran

As a First Responder, your responsibility to place service before self is a demand few understand and even fewer defend. As a First Responder, your responsibility to place service before self is a demand few understand and even fewer defend. With a pledge of this magnitude, why would anyone not prioritize whatever is needed to protect their strength to serve? Psychotherapy will not make you less effective. It is meant to address difficulties that harm your ability to serve and damage relationships you value. You were not asked to serve alone. Why now should you suffer alone?

Families and friends are often seen as sources of support. However, they too can become overwhelmed. Sometimes the immeasurable difficulties First Responders and Veterans face can be so devastating that it is difficult enough trying to manage the present, let alone think about the future, when thoughts are suffocated by the past.

It is important to find a therapist adequately trained and experienced to serve First Responders, Veterans, and their families. Richard Piekarczyk-Vacca was medically released from the Canadian Armed Forces after a traumatic brain injury. He began a new mission with the same reason to serve. He is a Registered Psychotherapist with an educational focus and unique experiences with this community that compliments his clinical treatment.

****An Initial appointment is necessary in order to gather information on yourself to better understand what you are looking for in a partner****

A dating coach will help you identify patterns that are not in alignment with your relationship vision to guide you to where your prospects are more viable. A dating coach’s job is to work with your overall image in order to present the best version of you. Four main areas will be targeted in order to find your dating style and suit your dating needs.

For The Client:
1. Mental Health
2. Physical Image
3. Personality/Character
4. Preferences

Six Aspects of Correction in a Clients Life:
1. Social Grace
2. Grooming Etiquette
3. Dressing Standards
4. Dining Behaviors
5. Career
6. Relationships

Four Tenets (Potential Partner):
1. Chemistry
2. Core Values
3. Emotional Availability and Maturity
4. Readiness for a Relationship

While a dating coach cannot help anyone to fall in love with you, they can help guide you to identify love in your life. The goal of a dating coach is to teach you to be your authentic self. To help bring your “inner game” out so you can present yourself in a competent and confident holistic fashion.

* Please note that a dating coach appointment is not psychotherapy and therefore is not covered under your insurance plan. An Initial appointment is necessary in order to gather information on yourself and what you are looking for in a partner.

Faith-based therapy integrates evidence-based clinical theory into a therapeutic intervention that incorporates your spiritual beliefs. Faith-based therapy is not based on any particular religion or belief. Instead, it is how you see the world through your faith or the current struggles that might be confronting these beliefs.

Faith-based therapy, when used for individuals or couples counseling, can give you a better understanding of your current situation. It can help challenge your thinking when distorted or destructive emotions, thoughts, or behaviors begin harming who you know you should be.

Faith-based counseling is not meant to indoctrinate or changes beliefs and values. Rather, it is to help you align these beliefs and values with how you see the world, others, and yourself to improve your mental health, along with your relationships spiritually and socially. We are all a work in progress.
